28 years after his first movie appearance, the anti-hero Spawn will definitely be back in 2025! The official announcement was made in October 2023 by Jason Blum, who is the producer of the project. The latter assured that the tone of this new film would be very dark.

“We’re going to use the Blumhouse touch on Spawn. It’s going to be dark and original compared to other superhero movies. You’ll really feel like you’re watching a Blumhouse version of a superhero movie.”he noted at the New York Comic Con.

Rated 1.5 out of 5 on AlloCiné and considered one of the worst films of its genre, will Spawn rebuild its image under Jason Blum? In any case, the producer has confidence in his project and recently announced the official title of the film on his X account, so the feature film will be called King Spawn.

At the moment we do not know the name of the director of this new opus. We just know that Scott Silver (The Joker), Malcolm Spellman (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) and Matt Mixon wrote the script for the film, based on characters created by Todd MacFarlane.

Jamie Foxx will be Spawn

Note that Jamie Foxx has to dress up as an anti-hero named Albert Francis “Al” Simmons, aka Spawn. The latter is a mercenary who, after being killed in an explosion, makes a deal with the Dark Lord to see his wife again, becoming the infernal warrior Spawn.

To remind you, the director of the 1997 film was Marc Az Dieppe; The latter worked on the special effects of Abyss and Terminator 2. This feature film gave the ultra-violent superhero a false start to the competition.

Indeed, despite a worldwide box office haul of $87.8 million (40 for a budget), the result remains one of the worst films of the genre, and one of the ugliest as well. Will this King Spawn remove the insult and set the record straight? Answer in 2025.
