The Municipality of Porto Alegre authorizes the circulation of buses on the “T1” line without toll collectors

Coletivo makes 58 stops between the Center and the North Zone, passing through key locations such as PUCRS

Starting this Wednesday (24), the Carris company is authorized by the city of Porto Alegre to operate the “T1” bus line without the presence of drivers. The measure, published in the Official Gazette of Porto Alegre (Dopa), expands the number of public transport vehicles in the city that will no longer have these professionals, with cash tickets paid directly to the driver.

Created in 1976, along with the transversal lines “T2”, “T3” and “T4”, the “T1” line operates from early morning until late at night. Its route is extensive, starting near the Federal Revenue Office/Parque da Harmonia (Historical Center) and ending at Terminal Triângulo, on Avenida Assis Brasil (North Zone). The line has 58 stops, many of them located on Avenida Ipiranga.

Due to its route, the “T1” line is a popular choice for passengers who need to access important places such as the Praia de Belas Shopping Center, the Ernesto Dornelles Hospital, the Police Palace, the Communications Faculty of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the Planetarium (Santana neighborhood), Bourbon Shopping Center and the central campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), in Jardim Botânico, among others.

Passengers can track the location of buses in real time through the Tri card application, selecting the “GPS” option, which redirects to the Cittamobi tool. Another alternative is to use WhatsApp on the Municipality’s 156 platform. To use the service, simply save the number (51) 3433-0156 on your mobile phone and send a “ciao” in the message, following the instructions to access information on bus lines and schedules.

Resumption of the lines

Last Monday (22), public transport in Porto Alegre reactivated three bus lines that had been partially or completely paralyzed by the floods in May. The lines include “705.2-Airport-Ceasa”, “705.3-Airport-Ceasa-Fecomércio” and “C5-Circular 4º Distrito-Moinhos de Vento”.

“705.2”: After almost three months of operation limited to weekends, the line is back with 24 daily trips, departing from Rua Coronel Vicente (Historic Center) to Salgado Filho International Airport (North Zone) and vice versa.

“705.3”: The line now offers ten trips a day, also departing from Coronel Vicente towards the Anchieta neighborhood (North Zone) and traveling in the opposite direction.

“C5”: This line operates four times a day, starting from Avenida Mauá (Historic Center) and circulating through the 4th District (North Zone) and Moinhos de Vento, returning to the starting point.
