Prime Video: It’ll be easier to find what to watch ‘for free’

Amazon has once again redesigned the Prime Video interface. The idea behind the new design is to make it easier for users to search and navigate their subscriptions. In practice, it should be easier to find, for example, content that you can only watch as a Prime subscriber, i.e. without additional costs.

The change is important because, over time, Prime Video has become a streaming hub. There you will find for example: Max, Premiere, Crunchyroll. And movies to rent and buy. When it comes to watching something, it is normal for the decision to be followed by frustration. “Ah, this movie is not included in Prime…”. Who on earth?

The new Prime Video interface better organizes your content

The redesigned interface features a new tab dedicated to all the content included in the Prime Video subscription, as per released by Amazon on Thursday (23). Important to note: There are no movies or series with additional costs.

The new “Prime” tab is located in the main navigation bar, which is at the top of the screen, rather than on the left side in the new layout. It is next to (but separate from) the home page, movies, shows, sports, and live TV.

After the “Prime” tab, there are those dedicated to other streaming services (Max, Crunchyroll, Paramount Plus). Here’s how it works:

Feature films available for rent or purchase, as well as TV series available for streaming that you are not subscribed to, will appear on the home page under the TV Shows and Movies tabs.

Prime Video will also use artificial intelligence (AI) to recommend content to you in the “Made for You” feed in the movies and TV shows tabs. It will be a “For You” experience, with Prime Video content mixed in with other streams (regardless of whether you’re a subscriber or not).

“We’re always listening to customers and reviewing feedback, and it’s clear that many are looking for a more intuitive streaming experience,” Kam Keshmiri, vice president of design for Prime Video, said in a statement.
