With House of the Dragon season 2 coming to an end soon, episode 6 gives Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) some hope in her fight against the Greens, now led by Emond (Iwan Mitchell), who has become Prince Regent in place of Aegon. (Tom Glynn-Carney), badly burned and making a full recovery.

On the one hand, Rhaenyra seeks out “dragonseeds”, children and bastards born of Targaryen and Velarion men having intercourse with women of other social status or other houses who can ride dragons, in order to have creatures capable of defeating Vagar, the dragon. of Emond.

But having an effective dragon army isn’t Rhaenyra’s only strategy. With the good advice of Mizaria (Sonoya Mizuno), a former lover of the Daemon Targaryen turned advisor to Rhaenyra, who leads a network of spies in King’s Landing.

Impromptu Kiss in “Dragon’s House”

In House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6, Renira and Misaria grow closer and closer thanks to Misaria’s good advice and her winning actions to ensure that Renira regains her rightful throne.

Misaria confides in Rhaenyra about her past and her tragic childhood, in particular her father’s rape, and explains that she will be loyal to him, much to Rhaenyra’s heart. The latter, very shaken, goes over to take her in his arms, then exchanges tender and passionate kisses with Misaria until they break up.

“There was such a desire to connect”Emma D’Arcy considers this rapprochement between Rhaenyra and Misaria variety, “I think it’s the kind of intimacy Renyra so rarely shares. With the demon, I think it’s hard for both sides to show their weaknesses and that their eroticism is somewhat based on power.”

For Emma D’Arcy, the rapprochement between Misaria and Rhaenyra is sincere and based on compassion, gratitude and envy. “As soon as they kiss and their bodies touch, I think it’s pure body desire”According to Rhaenyra’s interpreter.

If this kiss feels so fluid, logical, and natural, it’s because it’s due to two performers who improvised the exchange on set. Sonoya Mizuno revealed TheWrap that the kiss was not written in the script: “In the script, it was written as ‘breathing between them’ or something, and then everything that happens stops.”

From there, Emma D’Arcy, Sonoya Mizuno and showrunner Ryan Condall had many conversations about what would come out of this scene, and it was Emma D’Arcy who made this suggestion: “Emma D’Arcy felt the instinct to hug my character, comfort her, and from there the kiss felt very organic.”.

For Andrij Parekh, the director of this sixth episode, it’s a kiss “surprise”. But he trusted The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted the audience to feel that it was a kiss “Real, emotional and purposeful” And that it fits into Renira’s emotional story, “In particular, that her husband left her”.

Even though Renyra and Misaria couldn’t move on because they broke up, there is no doubt that there is a strong attraction between the two women, and that this closeness could lead to further problems in Renyra and Misaria’s relationship if she ever returns from Harrenhal with her ghosts.

Season 2 of “Dragon House” is currently streaming on the MAX platform.
