Netflix just released the trailer for Three Daughters , the heartwarming drama that stars Natasha Lyonne, Carrie Coon, and Elizabeth Olsen. Screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film has already been praised by American critics for its performances and emotional intensity.

A special actor

Directed by Azazel Jacobs, the three actresses play sisters who rally around their dying father, played by Jay O. Sanders is playing. Carrie Coon plays Kate, the responsible sister, and Natasha Lyonne is Rachel, a spunky girl who tries to escape reality by smoking pot.

Elizabeth Olsen, meanwhile, plays Christina’s third sister, a spirited young woman trying to cope with the impending loss of her father. This family reunion becomes a scene of conflict, reconciliation and a deep revelation of their shared past.

Azazel Jacobs, director of French Exit with Michelle Pfeiffer and The Lovers, teams up here with Elizabeth Olsen, with whom he already worked on Sorry for Your Loss, a delicate and sensitive series about mourning and made for Facebook. And as the trailer shows, he has crafted this film with great sensitivity, capturing the complex and often painful dynamics of family relationships.

Shot in 35mm by cinematographer Sam Levy, his three daughters offer a raw and authentic visual aesthetic that heightens the intensity of the emotions on screen.
