Warning, spoilers. Before continuing reading this article, it is recommended to watch House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 7.
Season 2 of House of the Dragon comes to an end with the release of the last episode. Titled “The Red Seed,” this seventh chapter folds cards in “Dance of Dragons.”
With Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) camp cornered after the loss of Rhaenys (Eva Best) and Mel, Black’s new strategies will finally pay off as Rhaenyra slowly regains the trust of the people and the residents of the port – real, but boasts new key allies!
New Dragons on the Black Side
Indeed, in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 7, Renira can count on three new dragons ready to fight for her clan. As we explained after episode 5, Rhaenyra and Jacqueris (Harry Collett) decided to look for Valyrian descendants in other houses, since only those with blood ties to the Valyrians can claim to carry a dragon.
I will remind you in the book Fire and blood By George RR Martin, on which the series is based, the Blacks call the “Dragon Seed”, i.e. Targaryen and Velarion, the children born male and female.
After a failed attempt by Commander Stephon Sombrelin, Misaria (Sonoya Mizuno) advises Renira to look at the scoundrels who may also be “Dragonseeds” and so she calls on the suitors hiding among the citizens of King’s Landing.
Because this episode suggests that blood or pure bloodline aren’t the only elements to consider for potential dragon riders. For Clinton Freedom, who plays Halley Adams, that’s about it“a combination of different things”.
“We saw that Stephon Sombrelin had blood and family for a long time.” He explains variety, “But Seasmoke could tell that human essence wasn’t what he was looking for, which made me think, ‘Oh, it’s more than blood, it’s also ‘human essence.'”.
Even if Jace balks at the idea, it has to be said that it’s a real success. First there’s Adam Hull, one of Corlis Velarion’s (Steve Toussaint) scoundrels, whom the dragon Seasmoke went to find. The latter had dragon rider Laenor Velarion (John McMillan), son of Corliss, seemingly dead thanks to Rhaenyra.
Among the bastards who spontaneously introduce themselves to Rhaenyra, we find two characters we met during Season 2, Hugh Marteau (Kieran Bew), a blacksmith from King’s Landing, and Ulf White (Tom Bennett), a notorious drunk who boasted that Had. Targaryen blood.
With the former’s bravery and the latter’s clumsiness, Hugh and Ulf manage to master two dragons: Vermithor and Silverwing. Because it happens in an impressive sequence where Vermithor burns a lot of bastards before Hugh chooses a dragon rider.

“There was a phenomenal fire” Hugh according to translator Kieran Bew. he explained Deadline that he is the head of the stunt department “One of the best in the industry and one of the best I’ve ever worked with” :
“One of the nights we shot outdoors because they had so many people burning at once. I think it was the biggest fire they’ve ever had on Game of Thrones and we had to be outside.”
Rhaenyra now has eight dragons at her side: Syrax (Rhenyra), Vermax (Jayce), Moondancer (Baela (Bethany Antonia)), Sismoke (Addam), Vermithor (Hugh), Silverwing (Ulf), Little Stormcloud (Aegon III), and Caraxes (Demon (Matt Smith)), if the latter eventually returns to Dragonstone and makes amends with Rhaenyra.
Additionally, Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell), the second daughter of Corlys and Rhaenys, who protects Rhaenyra’s children on the Eyre side, heads out in search of a wild dragon that lives in the region. Another dragon may join the black camp.
The green camp did not say the last word
If the black camp has regained the upper hand and can hope to put pressure on Emond (Ivan Mitchell) and Vagar, as evidenced by the end of episode 7, where Emond returns to see Dragonstone and Rhaenyra in his camp with new dragons. The Greens have other assets.
Indeed, Season 2 of House of Dragons introduced Daeron, the last son of Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Viserys (Paddy Considine), who is a good guy, the polar opposite of his brothers Aemond and Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney). In episode 7, we learn that his dragon Tessarion has finally taken flight. This young man could be a major asset in the battle between the Blacks and the Greens.
At the moment, Deron is in Villeville and it’s not out of the question to see him in the near future, even if we hope to see him in Season 3. Showrunner Ryan Condall recently explained variety That this character just doesn’t “Not taken yet” :
“I said he was a character in the series, but now he’s in Oldtown, where he was sent when he was still a baby. We know he’s not a dragon rider yet, but he’s definitely going to be a dragon in the story and have. The role, as in the book, But we are not yet at that stage of the narrative.
A final that promises to be explosive
Now that Emond knows that Rhaenyra has three new dragons at his side, the Prince Regent knows he’s in trouble, despite the power of his dragon Vagar. As the trailer for the latest episode shows, Emond asks his sister Helena (Fia Saban) to join him in a battle with his dragon Dreamdream.
The trailer promises an epic battle between the greens and the blacks, who are determined to get the upper hand and hit hard. However, tensions are important in each camp, but they will have to put aside their differences if they do not want to lose new members.
The last episode of “Dragon House” season 2 will be available on the MAX platform on August 5.
