Sequel to “Minions” (2015) and prequel to “Despicable Me” (2010), “Minions 2: The Origin of Gru” repeated the commercial success of its predecessors.
The plot is set in the 1970s and follows an 11-year-old Gru as he tries to become a supervillain with the help of his Minions.
In addition to its financial success, “Minions 2: The Origin of Gru” was well received by critics in general.

In this second film, Gru puts aside his life as a supervillain to take care of his adopted daughters.
However, he is recruited by the Anti-Villain League to investigate the theft of a powerful mutagen by a supervillain. For this mission, Gru has the support of secret agent Lucy Wilde.

The third highest-grossing film of 2013, “Despicable Me 2,” was also well received by critics.
The film received two Oscar nominations and won awards at numerous other film ceremonies.

And the first place goes to the beginning of it all. “Despicable Me” follows Gru, a supervillain who plans to steal the moon. To use as part of his evil plan, he adopts three orphaned girls. However, he ends up developing an emotional attachment to them.
With widespread positive reviews, “Despicable Me” was also a commercial success. The film was the ninth highest-grossing film of 2010.
