The defender signs a one-year loan deal with Sao Paulo and arrives to strengthen Luis Zubeldía’s defensive system
This Monday (12), San Paolo agreed to sign defender Ruan, who was at Sassuolo, in Italy. The agreement is for one year and, at the end of the period, Tricolor will have priority in the purchase.
Revealed by Grêmio, Ruan was sold to Italian football in 2021. In three seasons at Calcio, he played 64 games, received 15 yellow cards and gained experience in the Old Continent. His contract with Sassuolo will last until June 2026.

At San Paolo, the defender will be the sixth defender in Luis Zubeldía’s squad. His competition will be with Arboleda, Alan Franco, Ferraresi, Sabino and Matheus Belém.
Escape from the Libertadores
Despite the contract closing this Monday, the deadline to register new athletes, Ruan will only be able to play in the Libertadores if they qualify for the quarterfinals. The Tricolore faces the Uruguayan Nacional. If they pass the phase, the team will face the winner of Palmeiras and Botafogo.
