The rule is clear: if a movie is successful, Hollywood will want a sequel. And no movie has been more successful in 2022 than “Top Gun: Maverick”, with more than $ 1.1 billion worldwide and the highest grossing of star Tom Cruise’s career.
Although the Paramount studio has not yet manifested, actor Miles Teller, who works in the production, has revealed that he is already “talking” with Tom Cruise about a new film in the franchise. “I talked to him about it. We’ll see,” revealed the actor, in an interview with the show “Entertainment Tonight”.
“That would be great, but it all depends on the TC,” said Teller. “It depends on Tom,” he added, noting that Cruise was slow to commit to “Maverick,” the sequel to the original 1986 “Top Gun”.
At the moment, the star is dedicated to producing his latest film in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, currently filming in London. He is also engaged in an action thriller in space, directed by Doug Liman, and plans to shoot a sequel to “Edge of Tomorrow” (2014) with the same director.
However, it’s hard to ignore the studio’s enthusiasm for “Top Gun: Maverick,” which made millions not just for Paramount, but the star herself – in addition to his acting work, he’s credited as the film’s producer, with the title to the percentages of the box office.
