Filming scenes without clothes is a subject that divides actors and actresses. Many accept it quite naturally to strip down in the name of art, while others believe that filmmakers sometimes “force the issue”. Scarlett Johansson have no problem with this type of work.
The artist has already appeared nude in two films in her career. The list could have a third film if it were up to her: The Island (2005), a film in which he starred alongside Ewan McGregor.
However, Michael Baythe film’s director, refused to let her appear without clothes. And the filmmaker assured that he had a reason for that.
Johansson had to film a scene during which her character appears having sex with McGregor. The actress thought she would appear naked to make her look more natural, but was disappointed when the production team gave her a bra for the filming.
The situation caused discomfort. When he noticed that she was taking a long time to show up on set when the scene was being filmed, Bay went looking for her and found her in her trailer. That’s when the actress revealed her dissatisfaction with appearing in a bra.

In an interview with Digital Spy At the time of the film’s release, Michael Bay gave more details of the disagreement. The filmmaker revealed the reason why he had to require the use of a bra.
She was standing there and she said to me, ‘I’m not going to wear that cheap bra. I’m going to (film) naked.’ So I said, ‘It’s rated 13 and over, so you have to wear the bra.'”
Even so, Scarlett Johansson did not remain silent. In her defense, she remembered a common custom among many women. Even so, it was no use.
She said that women don’t normally sleep in bras and that she couldn’t wake up in that scene wearing a bra, it would be ridiculous.”
A little help for the director in Asteroid City
There are two films in which Scarlett Johansson appears as she came into the world: Under the Skin (2013) and Asteroid City (2023). Regarding the second feature, the actress revealed, in an interview with Yahoo Entertainmentthat her nude scene left the director Wes Anderson very uncomfortable.
Wes is probably the worst person to talk to about something like this. He gets so uncomfortable with it.”
Ultimately, Johansson hinted that she had to help Anderson finish filming the scene, as the filmmaker was visibly embarrassed — to the point of hiding his face.
