$307 million: 20 years later, this sci-fi saga is coming back for a new movie?

Hitting theaters on August 14th, Alien Romulus is well on its way to reviving the horror saga at the box office! Internationally, Fede Alvarez’s film has already collected $108 million, a solid and promising start.

Did this give the director ideas to continue using the xenomorph vein? he asked termFede Alvarez has announced that he is completely open to directing Alien Predator!

“Maybe this is something I should do with my friend Dan.”– noted the artist. This friend is filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg; The latter directed Prey, the prequel to Predator 2022, which was released on Disney+ 2 years ago and was quite well received by the public. Additionally, Trachtenberg is already working on another film in the franchise.

Fede + Dan = monster love

“We might like it Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez along with A night in hell. I’ll do one half and he’ll do the other.”Fede Alvarez added. While the idea is appealing on paper, it’s worth remembering that the two men will have a lot to do to make fans forget the two films from 2004 and 2008.

Forgotten diptych… and forgettable?

Indeed, Alien vs Predator and Alien vs Predator Requiem did not leave lasting memories with fans of the monstrous sagas. The first, directed by Paul WS Anderson, is rated 2 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers. As for the second one, directed by Colin Strause and Gregg Strauss, it boasts a stratospheric score of… 1.6 out of 5!

Suffice it to say, Fede Alvarez and Dan Trachtenberg will have to rise early to bring us a showdown worthy of the Alien vs. Predator name. However, despite their average quality, these two editions were profitable.

The first episode grossed 177 million GEL internationally for a budget of 60 million. Requiem, on the other hand, made $130 million on a $40 million budget.

Meanwhile, the alien Romulus shows us again… and in dark theaters, no one can hear you scream!
