What are the subscription plans like?
iQiyi has a free catalog, but offers two plans for subscribers who want access to the full catalog: both Premium and Standard offer the first month for R$ 9.90, but Standard starts costing R$ 29.90 from the second month (annual plan for R$ 299.90) and Premium charges R$ 39.90 from the second month onwards (annual plan for R$ 399.90).
While the free access has lower resolution quality, ads and only one screen, the Standard plan has 1080P quality and the Premium plan has 4K. The number of simultaneous screens per user also increases with each plan.
The arrival in Brazil is part of iQiyi’s global strategy to expand its Asian entertainment offerings to new markets, it said. Lion GengSenior Vice President of iQiyi, in a statement. “iQiyi’s original Chinese content has been well received in Spanish-speaking markets over the past year. By expanding into Brazil this year, we will expand the reach of our premium content to an already large audience outside of Asia.”
In addition to Brazil, iQiyi announced its expansion strategy in South America with streaming operations in Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Colombia. Countries will be able to access the platform’s content with Spanish subtitles.
