Manchester United player sued by ex-girlfriend
Sao Paulo police have concluded their investigation into a domestic violence allegation allegedly committed by striker Antony against his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin, without charging the Manchester United player.
The DJ and influencer accused the athlete just over a year ago of having offended, threatened and attacked her in Brazil and England. The authorities even questioned Antonio and collected statements from 19 witnesses.
From now on, the final investigation document will be analyzed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP), who will decide the next steps of the case.
It is worth noting that, in England, Cavallin’s complaint continues to be investigated by Greater Manchester Police, who are investigating whether Antony committed assault, false imprisonment, stalking and domestic violence.
In a statement released to the press, the DJ’s lawyers said they were “surprised” by the decision of the São Paulo police. They added that this does not eliminate the “responsibility of the perpetrator of the facts” and accused Antonio of “hindering” the investigation.
The player’s defense, for its part, stated that “it has always believed that the investigations would demonstrate Antonio’s innocence”.
