After Dahmer, Netflix released the second season of Monsters, which focuses on the true and crazy story of two brothers.

In 2022, the Dahmer series was a big hit on Netflix (and not always for the right reasons). What subscribers didn’t necessarily know is that this was the first chapter of an anthology, as its co-creator Ryan Murphy knows all too well (especially through his American Story franchise). idea? Retracing the journeys of heinous criminals who have left their mark on our society.

Two tense brothers

Season 2 of Monsters (plural this time) focuses on the disturbing story of Lyle and Eric Menendez, two brothers who were convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents. If this criminal case is particularly well-known in the United States, it is much less well-known in France.

Netflix just released the first teaser, and we’re already intrigued by what Season 2 has to say, even if we haven’t seen much. In any case, it is very different from the first one. Because with the story of Eric and Lyle, the series will ask a particularly interesting question: between parents who abuse their children and their children who kill them in return, who is the real monster in this story?

If American Justice already delivers on this level, Monsters Season 2 will play on that ambivalence and hopefully bring some nuance to the characters. Netflix also tapped two big names to play the parents: Javier Bardem and Chloe Sevigny. The two heroes are played by Cooper Koch and Nicolas Alexander Chavez, two lesser-known actors who could make a big impact in their careers thanks to these roles.

While you wait for the actual trailer, mark your calendars for September 19th. If the quality is there, Netflix may have its biggest hit this fall.
