Bandida, a film about a drug lord in Rocinha, gets a release date on Netflix

The production is based on the book A Número Um, by Raquel de Oliveira, and stars actress and singer Maria Bomani, from the soap opera Amor de Mãe

After a brief stint in cinemas, Bandit: Number Onenew feature film by John Wainer (The Cage), which is based on the true story of the woman who became the head of drug trafficking in the Rocinha favela in the 1980s, has been given a release date on Netflix. The news was announced by the actress and singer Maria Bomani (Mother’s Love), on their social networks and confirmed by the streaming platform.

What is the story of Bandit?

Narrated in the first person, Bandit follows the trajectory of Rebecca (Maria) who, at the age of nine, was sold by her grandmother to a bookmaker and inserted into a world of violence and corruption, even though she did not actively participate in it.

As she grows up, she closely follows the change in power — taken by drug trafficking — and becomes the wife of the crime boss, To (Jean Amorim, Captains of the Sand). After her husband’s death, she takes command of the gang and a routine of crimes, violence, drugs and love.

In addition to Maria Bomanithe cast of Bandit: Number One still has Milhem Cortaz (The Others), Wilson Rabelo (Nightjar), Natalia Lage (Hard), the singer Otto and the ex-BBB Natalia Deodatobetween others.

When will Bandida: The Number One premiere on Netflix?
