“Boring and painful to watch”, “Lack of ambition and ideas”, “A story as stupid as muscular”… can’t be said that the international press hated The Terminal List, a new Amazon Prime Video original production starring Chris Pratt, with a 1.8 out of 5 on AlloCiné (1.8 from listed media) and only 43% on US site Rotten Tomatoes.
While Chris Pratt has yet to respond to the situation because he’s probably too busy promoting the movie Thor: Love and Thunder, writer Jack Carr – author of the novels from which The Terminal List is adapted – wanted to respond to critics, saying that the series is not for them, but Created for the public and more specifically for members of the American military corps (the novelist himself was a former marine):
It is a symbol of what I now observe in the prevailing culture and climate in America. Our series seems to be bothering some critics. But we didn’t do it for the critics, we did it for the people on the ground: the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, so they could watch the show from their couch and see that we did it. Something that speaks to them and their efforts. And the viewers of the series confirm that we managed to do it.
Although not a critical success, the series still met with its audience. Is the audience enough to convince Amazon to order an additional season of The Terminal List, the literary saga from which the series is adapted, totaling five novels to date? Remember, however, that Jack Carr’s works, bestsellers across the Atlantic, are still unpublished in France.
The eight-episode series The Terminal List is now available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
