Luiz Henrique rules out injury and sees return to Brazil as crucial to joining the national team

The highlight of Botafogo’s season was called up by Dorival Júnior

Luiz Henrique was one of the 23 players selected by coach Dorival Júnior, this Friday (23), in the call-up of the Brazilian national team. He will be present in the team’s next commitments against Ecuador and Paraguay, on September 6 and 10 respectively, in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

In an interview with the program Seleção Sportv, the striker celebrated the moment of his career and ruled out a possible injury suffered in the match against Palmeiras, last Wednesday (22), at the Allianz Parque, in the Libertadores. The player left the field at the beginning of the second phase of the match after feeling pain in the calf area. The incident raised doubts about the physical condition of the attacker, who commented on the case.

– There was no injury. There was just a little pain in both calves, but now everything is fine and I am available for the next match – said the player.

In addition, Luiz Henrique considered his return to Brazil essential for his presence in coach Dorival Júnior’s squad. He arrived in Rio de Janeiro in February to be announced as Botafogo’s new reinforcement for the season. Since then, the striker has taken on a leading role in coach Artur Jorge’s team, currently leading the Brazilian championship and qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Libertadores.

– I think my return to Brazil has given me more visibility for the Brazilian team. Here (at Botafogo) I’m playing very well, everyone is watching me, Dorival, even some scouts from Europe. I think I’ve had more visibility in Brazil – he concluded.

Before joining the select group of players of the Brazilian national team, Luiz Henrique will have two more games for the Brazilian Championship. Botafogo will face Bahia this Sunday (25), at 16:00, at the Arena Fonte Nova, and later they will face Fortaleza, current vice-leader, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, on August 31.
