The Argentine hesitated, but chose to continue in the Italian capital
In a major development, striker Paulo Dybala, a 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina, will remain at Roma after deciding not to accept a multi-million dollar offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al Qadsiah.
Dybala, who is one of the main references of the current Giallorossi squad, has been approached by the team from the Arabian peninsula, who have offered him a salary of around 75 million euros in a three-year contract, according to local press.
The Argentine was shocked, so much so that the transfer seemed confirmed, but a post on the athlete’s social media showed that he had given up on changing countries.
“Thank you Roma, see you on Sunday,” Dybala wrote in the caption of a video showing some moments of the centre-forward in the capital.
There are different versions circulating in the media about the reasons that led Dybala to stay at Roma. Some talk about the “warmth” of the Giallorossi fans, while others say that the Argentine’s family had a great influence.
At 30, Dybala has appeared 78 times for Roma and scored 34 goals. Last season, the player contributed 16 goals and nine assists.
