With the drop in thermometers, minimum temperatures in the Metropolitan Region could reach 7°C; see the advice for protecting yourself from the cold
THE Civil Protection he issued a warning cold wave in the state of São Paulo on Friday 23. According to the agency, the drop in temperature began on Saturday 24 and lasted until the beginning of this week.
As the thermometers drop, minimum temperatures could reach 7°C in the metropolitan region and 2°C in the Serra da Mantiqueira region, the coldest place in this period, with freezing conditions.
On Sunday 25, there will be low temperature variations in the capital, according to the Emergency Management Center (CGE). The maximum will not exceed 14°C.
“This is because a cold front that forms in southern Brazil will advance across the country and cause rain showers throughout the state of São Paulo, however, after this weather system, the action of a cold air mass will cause temperatures to drop, making it feel cold, with conditions for frost to form in mountainous areas,” he explained.
To minimize the risks of colds, such as hypothermia and respiratory diseases, the Civil Protection recommends:
- Stay warm
- Avoid closed places with large circulation of people
- Clean your hands often
- The use of heaters must be used with caution, avoiding leaving them on all night
- Never improvise stoves, using a fire, a stove or something similar
