Smoke continues to cover the sky of Brasilia today (26); check the necessary care

Early in the morning, around 6 am, it was not possible to see the National Congress, the Television Tower and the Digital TV Tower due to poor visibility in the federal capital.

Brasilia (DF) had a smoke-covered dawn for the second consecutive day, this Monday (26). According to firefighters, the situation is due to fires that occurred in the interior of the state of São Paulo.

Early in the morning, around 6 am, it was not possible to see the National Congress, the Television Tower and the Digital TV Tower due to poor visibility in the capital.

Smoke in the sky of Brasilia

According to the company, the smoke reached Brasilia because of “the variation of about 180º in the direction of the wind, further aggravated by a high pressure system that does not allow the smoke to dissipate”according to the g1 portal.

On the other hand, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) reports that the smoke concentrated in the sky of the Federal District is still a crossroads “from fires in nearby areas and across the country, dry weather and low humidity”.

Despite the poor visibility, Inframerica, the concessionaire that manages Brasilia’s airport, says there is no impact on the terminal’s landings and takeoffs.

With no rain forecast, Smoke is expected to continue to cover the sky of the Brazilian capital in the coming days.

Check the necessary precautions with heavy smoke

The Ministry of Health informs about the precautions to be taken due to smoke and fog. Check:

  • Increase your water and fluid intake, which helps protect your respiratory system;
  • Reduce, as much as possible, the time of exposure to smoke, staying indoors with ventilation or air purifiers;
  • Keep doors and windows closed to prevent particles from entering the room;
  • Avoid physical activity during peak hours, especially between 12:00 and 16:00;
  • Use masks, scarves or bandanas to protect your nose and mouth from exposure to pollutants;
  • Pay special attention to children under five, elderly people over 60 and pregnant women.
