The actor stars in the reboot of the 1994 classic as Eric Draven
Bill Skarsgard needed to change his diet and exercise routine to perform in The Raven. Before accepting the role as Eric Draven, he starred in Against All (2023), in which his character also undergoes a physical transformation and seeks revenge. Therefore, the actor was already defining his muscles.
“I took Bill for dinner and I always ordered it for him, because I knew what he was eating,” said the director Rupert Sanders the Variety during the film’s premiere last Tuesday, 20th. “It’s basically steak tartare and raw eggs. He spent a lot of time at the gym, ate very healthy and made us feel ashamed for eating burgers and hot dogs and working late in the Czech summer.”
In the reboot of the 1994 classic, Eric and his girlfriend Shelly, played by FKA Twigsare murdered. The man is brought back to life and seeks revenge as the Crow.
“I had been training for a while. My trainer and I kept adding a little bit of weight to what I was already doing, but I also didn’t want to get too big,” he said. Skarsgard. “It was difficult, because they wanted the Crow to be muscular, but Eric wasn’t. I didn’t think the character should be thin, but you can’t divide everything into six months, like Raging Bull. So we did a lot of weight training and I ate a lot of protein.”
At the end of filming, the actor celebrated with a beer: “I really enjoyed what I was eating, so I didn’t feel like I needed to cheat. I didn’t eat sugar, but I’m not a big fan of sweets either. I think my biggest cheat was an alcoholic beer. I celebrated after filming.”
