“Thor: Love and Thunder” is full of references and lines, and now director Taika Waititi has revealed that a meme from singer Taylor Swift played a role in the film.
In an interview with Insider, Waititi talked about various topics regarding “Thor: Love and Thunder”, a film he directed, and addressed a well-commented topic: the shrill-screaming goats that Thor receives as a gift and serve to move the heroes traveling against villain Gorr.
We’ve already talked about the goats, which exist in Thor comics and Norse mythology, and they’re nothing new to Marvel fans. But the fact that they scream is surprising, and it wasn’t even in Waititi’s plans until post-production, he says.
Waititi told Insider that the screams of the Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder goats in “Thor: Love and Thunder” are motivated by a meme from singer Taylor Swift. “They shouldn’t have screamed. The goats would always be there, because they’re in the comics, but we didn’t know what they would sound like, “explained the director.
So, a behind-the-scenes joke ended up making its way into the final version of the film. “Someone in post-production found this meme of a Taylor Swift song with goats screaming. I didn’t even know it existed. When I heard the goats, I thought it was great. A lot of people think I’m the one screaming, but that’s not the case, “Waititi revealed.
The meme in question is a remix of the song “I Knew You Were Trouble”, in which the singer’s voice is replaced by goat screams in the chorus. Check it out here:
