Elon Musk mocks Alexandre de Moraes and compares minister to bad guys after threat to overthrow X

Earlier, the minister had given a South African businessman 24 hours to appoint a new legal representative for the social network in the country.

Billionaire Elon Musk, owner of the social network X (formerly Twitter), posted on his social network profile a photo produced by artificial intelligence that compares Minister Alexandre de Moraes to the villains from the Harry Potter and Star Wars films.

The minister had previously given Musk a 24-hour deadline to appoint a new legal representative for X in Brazil, under penalty of suspending the social network’s activities in the country. The institutional account of the Federal Supreme Court in court through the social network itself, in response to the platform’s official profile. Jurists listened to by the State consider that the subpoena issued by the platform itself is atypical and illegal.

According to André Marsiglia, constitutional lawyer and specialist in freedom of expression, the subpoena presented by Moraes is null. According to him, the procedural code requires that Musk, a foreign citizen, receive the summons by letter rogatory, and not electronically.

Since August 17, the platform has closed its headquarters in Brazil and has no established lawyers. The businessman has denounced threats and censorship from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who reports investigations into the role of the platform owner in disinformation campaigns against Brazilian institutions.

The social network refuses to delete profiles blocked by Moraes in investigations into the spread of fake news and attacks on institutions.
