The defender had a contract only until the end of the season, but he satisfied the technical committee and Tricolore decided to extend his contract
San Paolo has agreed to renew the contract with defender Sabino. The player, who only had a contract until the end of this season, has extended his contract until the end of 2026. He was on a trial period at Tricolor, satisfied the technical staff and will remain at Morumbis for a while longer. The information was first reported by ‘Uol’ and confirmed by Play10.
The player arrived at Tricolore in March, on a three-month contract, on an experimental basis. After all, he was free on the market after leaving Sport. He then finished treatment for a foot injury in Sao Paulo. After recovering, he became an option on the related list, but it took him a while to debut.
He earned his first minutes in the first match against Águia de Marabá, in the Copa do Brasil, but then returned to the bench in the following matches. He began to gain space after the sale of Diego Costa to Krasnodar, from Russia. With the need to preserve some athletes, Zubeldía gave the defender a chance and he liked what he saw.
In the last four games, Sabino has played three as a starter. This Wednesday (28), against Atlético-MG in the Copa do Brasil, he replaced Alan Franco, who was suspended. The fact is that many expected Ferraresi to start, but Zubeldía has focused on the defender.
So, after the success achieved in Sao Paulo, the board decided to renew the player’s contract. Now it is expected that he will continue to earn minutes and establish himself more and more at the club.
