The statement was given in the first program of the election guide
In his debut program in the electoral guide, the former superintendent of the Federal Police made a simple video. Looking into the camera, with a dark background and suspenseful music, Ramagem offers an overview of his life, talking about his adolescence until his entry into politics.
He says what drove him to give up his dream of becoming a business manager and join the federal police was a gunshot he suffered while responding to a robbery when he was 20.
Within the police force, the PL candidate claims to have persecuted different types of criminals throughout Brazil. “For a long time I have fought pedophile networks, drug traffickers and extermination groups,” he says at one point in the video.
Ramagem stresses that he has the support of former President Jair Bolsonaro and stresses that he is running to become mayor, facing “the deceptions of the usual politicians.”
“Where there are too many scams, there is less health care, less education, less security,” the candidate says in the piece.
“They think good people, like you, are idiots, they are idiots,” he continues.
“We will prove that this time we idiots will win,” he concludes.
The Quaest voting intentions poll indicates that Alexandre Ramagem (PL) is in second place in the race for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, with 9%. Eduardo Paes (UB) leads with 60%.
