Lauro Chaman takes 5th place in pursuit

Montigny-le-Bretonneux – Lauro Chaman has been excluded from yet another medal fight at the Paris-2024 Paralympic Games. This Saturday (31), the Rio 2016 medalist competed in heat with Frenchman Dorian Foulon in the qualification phase of the 4000m pursuit in the C5 class and finished in 5th place.




Dorian Foulon and Lauro Chaman took to the track for the seventh and final heat of the qualifying phase. With the velodrome full of Frenchmen, the home rider was encouraged to win with a time of 4’13’934 and break the world record. The Brazilian closed the gap and took 5th place, clocking 4min21s768.

The qualifying round of the 4000m pursuit in the C5 class was attended by 14 athletes. They enter the track in pairs and compete to see who can complete the distance the fastest. In this way, the two best times enter the race for the gold, while the third and fourth place teams battle for the bronze.

Lauro Chaman is one of the great names of Brazilian cycling. At the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, the Brazilian managed to win two medals. On the track, he took bronze in the C5 time trial. Already away, he won second place.
