Actress plays the story of Eunice Paiva, a Brazilian who spent years trying to discover the whereabouts of her husband who disappeared during the military dictatorship
I’m Still Herenew film by Walter Salles with Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello and special participation of Fernanda Montenegrowas shown last Sunday (1st) at the Venice Film Festival.
The work is inspired by the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paivawhich tells the story of his family. The plot takes place from the 1970s and follows the struggle of Eunice PaivaMarcelo’s mother. She sought to discover the whereabouts of her husband, the former deputy Rubens Paivadisappeared during the military dictatorship.

The British newspaper The Guardian defined the film as “a dark and sincere drama about the country’s missing people”. The critics claim that the film loses some of its rhythm over time, but called Fernanda Torres, who plays Eunice, an “incredible performance”.
On the portal Varietythe title of the analysis was “Walter Salles’ deeply moving portrait of sensory memory about a family – and a nation – broken”. The text recalls Salles’ closeness to the Paiva family, with whom he lived from adolescence onwards.
