In addition to the courses, the training offers guidance on creating the MEI, using social networks, pricing and cooperativism.
Summary
The initiative is ten years old. In ten editions, held in nine favelas of Rio de Janeiro, it has trained more than 7,200 people, with an audience composed of 98% women.
Registration is now open for 200 new places in the free professional qualification courses for the A Arte Gerando Renda project, an initiative of the NGO Favela Mundo. Classes will begin on October 16 and will be held in the Caju neighborhood.
The project is aimed primarily at people living in communities, both in Caju and other neighborhoods, and offers courses in social makeup, braids and turbans, artistic makeup, crafts, nail art, costumes and props.
“In addition to teaching specific techniques for each course, we offer classes on creating MEIs, maintaining and promoting services on social networks, and how to evaluate work. We encourage the development of autonomy for each participant, showing the importance of teamwork and the creation of cooperatives,” explains Marcello Andriotti, founder of Favela Mundo, which promotes the courses.
They will run until December and will offer free materials and uniforms. Upon completion of the program, certificates of completion will be issued attesting to the skills and knowledge acquired. The minimum age for enrollment is 15, with no upper age limit.
