‘Thousand Children’ scammer files lawsuit against Netflix

The Dutch sperm donor, now 43, said he is suing Netflix over a documentary he described as “sensationalist”. Eva Jinek’s talk show on Dutch public television NPO1 Tuesday September 3. Jonathan Major, who refused to participate in the documentary, explained that the figures in the documentary are inaccurate.

The platform’s documentary claims he fathered thousands of children – as its title suggests – in addition to the scammer claiming he fathered 550 children with his sperm donations.

“550 is the number I know for sure. Everything below is speculation. That’s why I filed a lawsuit to fight these lies.”

After the case became public, Jonathan Meijer was banned from donating sperm in Holland, which he had been donating since he was 25 years old. This did not stop him, as he continued to give in other countries until 2023, and then he died after a woman complained about the risk of incest.

The court then banned him from donating sperm worldwide. If he still claims he had 550 children, the court estimates that number to be 1,000 on several continents. He denies that figure, which was also featured in a Netflix documentary that cast him in a bad light, he said.

The Dutchman claims that he is harming his children and their parents because they are recognized on the street. With legal action against Netflix, Jonathan Major hopes the platform will remove the documentary from its catalog and wants “Protect children from the media’s desire to make a spectacle out of them”.
