Did Monk really quit? Indeed, after the reunion TV movie you just discovered on TF1, will the detective be allowed a new adventure? That’s the question early fans are asking themselves after this unforgettable evening.
Airing on USA Network in December 2023, this final installment brought the entire cast together for a final act that was moving to say the least. However, now that our co-stars have found each other, it’s hard not to want more!
In an interview during a featured podcast hosted by Variety magazine, Tony Shalhoub revealed that he would be “I’m excited to reunite the entire cast and continue to play Adrian Monk in another project.”
“We don’t know yet.”
We don’t know yet if there will be more, but that’s Andy Brackman’s (series creator) desire, and I think he’s made that clear not only to NBC and Peacock, but
as well as our society”.
“I wouldn’t mind continuing.”
He continues to trust : “We haven’t finalized anything yet (…), but we really enjoyed returning to this series. Obviously I wouldn’t mind if it was the right time, the right idea and the right script. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”
But it’s not as simple as fans imagine, because everyone likes Monk’s ending. It was the pandemic that allowed the entire team to come together to find the right story for this long-awaited comeback.
“Well, that’s a compelling reason to bring this character back. How could Hadrian Monk overcome the pandemic? Now the discussion started, and Andy had a great idea.”
He concludes: “I’m so glad we did it because we really felt there was more to the movie than Episode 126.” Suffice it to say, there is clearly hope for a sequel. It remains to be seen what the future holds!
