Italian singer Luca Carboni reveals he battled cancer

The artist remained away from the scene for two years

After two years of silence, Italian singer Luca Carboni revealed this Sunday (8) that he has retired from the scene due to lung cancer, diagnosed in 2022.

The 61-year-old artist declared in an interview with Corriere della Sera that he had undergone several chemotherapy sessions during the period in order to undergo surgery to remove the tumor.

“It was a shock. In a few minutes everything changed. From choosing songs I started choosing therapies to survive. The tumor shrank a lot and in August allowed the operation to remove it,” said the Italian.

“Fortunately there were no metastases and after the surgery we continued with immunotherapy. After two years I can say that technically I am cured even if, with this type of disease, this word has a fragile meaning”, he added.

After having lived this “dramatic experience”, Carboni assured that he is ready to return to the stage and resume the songs interrupted by the illness.

In November, the Museum of Music in Bologna, at Palazzo Sanguinetti, will host an exhibition on the career of the composer, who will be celebrating his 40th birthday.
