Italy Beats Israel and Remains 100% in the League of Nations

With goals from Frattesi and Moise Kean, the Azzurri reach 2-1 and maintain their lead in Group 2 of League A

After a winning debut, Italy remains 100% in the Nations League. With goals from Frattesi and Kean, the Azzurri beat Israel 2-1, away, in a match this Monday (9), in the second round of Group 2 of League A (elite). The match took place at the Bozsik Arena, in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. The Israelis operate in the country because of the Israel-Gaza war.

Italy is better

Italy did justice to their superiority on the pitch, opening the scoring in the first half. Dimarco had good chances before, with two shots from outside the area. Bellanova had a great chance but, despite his beautiful control, he took the ball with his ankle.

Until, with a well-conceived action, Dimarco receives a free kick from the left and crosses from medium distance into the area. Frattesi was smart and put his chest on the ball surprising the goalkeeper Gerafi, scoring the first goal of the match, in the 37th minute.

Donnarumma saves

Behind in the standings, Israel needed to loosen up further. And, in the 15th minute, they forced Italian goalkeeper Donnarumma into two fine saves. However, the experience of the four-time world champion team spoke louder. After all, in the 17th minute, Israel starts to play, but hesitates when they can’t observe the high pressure of Italy. Raspadori steals the ball, shoots and, on the rebound, Moise Kean takes advantage to double the Azzurri’s lead.

Almost, Tonali

Midfielder Tonali returned to Italy last Friday (6), beating France, after a year-long suspension for sports betting. And he also scored what would have been his first goal for his country’s senior national team. Moise Kean kicked hard and the midfielder sent it into an empty net, but into the bathtub. After VAR analysis, the goal was in fact disallowed for offside.

Too late

Israel thought that Italy was sitting on the result. In this way they found their target. After a free kick in the area, a live ball for Mohammed Abu Fani, who at first shot crosswise, an undefendable ball for Donnarumma. The problem is that the goal came only in the 44th minute, when there was little time left to try to equalize.

Next steps

With the triumph, Italy is the only group with 100% of the Nations League. Thus, they lead Group 2, with six points, ahead of France (three) and Belgium (also three). Israel, in turn, is in last place, with two defeats.

Now the Azzurri will return to the field only in October, when they will host Belgium, on the 10th, and also Israel, on the 14th. In addition to this match, the Israelis will face France, again at home, on October 10th.
