According to the information of the news agency AFPIt was the boy who told his mother that he had been beaten. The incident occurred on September 3, the day after he returned to school after summer vacation.
In the video, recorded by an adult family member of another student who was at the school, the teacher appears to approach the girl, grab her arm and then slap the child hard. “You can see the teacher is holding back,” because of the presence of the person filming the scene, the lawyer added to the agency.
“These images are terribly shocking and unacceptable in our schools”said French Education Minister Nicole Belloubet on X (formerly Twitter, still available outside Brazil). The minister reiterated that the teacher’s immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings had been ordered against her.
Philippe Goujon, mayor of the 15th arrondissement of the French capital, where the school in question is located, said the teacher’s behavior was “unbearable” and “unspeakable.” BFMTVFrench channel, explained that the professional is around 50 years old and has been working at the school unit for 10 years.
“She knows the school, the parents and the children well” and “generally does not let herself be dominated by emotions. We have never had information like this about her before, obviously,” the mayor added.
