Businessman says not knowing buyer was one of world’s richest men cost him R$33 million in deal
Brazilian Leo Kryss, who sold a $79 million mansion to Jeff Bezos, one of the world’s richest men, has sued his broker. That’s because, according to the businessman, he didn’t know the identity of the buyer – which, according to him, would have cost him up to $6 million (R$33 million) in the deal. The information comes from Wall Street Journal.

According to the vehicle, when the seller received the offer to buy the house, he asked the intermediaries in charge of the sale if the interested party was Bezos, the founder of Amazon. This is because the billionaire had already acquired properties in the region. However, they would have guaranteed that Bezos was not the interested buyer.
According to the trial, currently underway in a Florida state court in the United States, the buyer – still “anonymous” at the moment – has declared that he would not pay more than 79 million dollars. The value of the villa has been estimated at 85 million dollars (about R$ 481.7 million).
Remember the sale
Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, has purchased a villa worth around R$ 400 million from a Brazilian on a private island in Miami, United States, known as a “billionaire bunker.” The sale took place in October last year.
According to journalist Katherine Kallergis of the specialized website The Real Deal, the luxury property, located in one of the largest concentrations of wealth in the United States, belonged to Brazilian businessman and mega-investor Leo Kryss, 75.
The world’s second-richest man, according to Forbes, has purchased a 18,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom property on Indian Creek Village, a man-made island in the Biscayne Bay area north of Miami Beach.
The property is located in a complex with 30 buildings. In addition to Bezos, other famous names have properties in the area, such as Tom Brady, ex-husband of Gisele Bündchen, singer Julio Iglesias, financial speculator Carl Icahn and Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump.
