Wicked: Part 2, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, has an early release

The first part of the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical hits Brazilian cinemas in November this year

Even before the premiere of the first part of Wickeda film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Universal Pictures made fans of the prequel from the classic The Wizard of Oz (1939) when announcing that the sequel to the film, Wicked: Part 2will arrive in theaters earlier.

According to the Deadlinethe sequel, which was scheduled to premiere on November 26, 2025 in North American theaters, will now be released a week earlier, on November 21, exactly one year after the release of the first film. If Brazil follows the release date, Wicked: Part 2 is expected to arrive in cinemas across the country on November 20th.

What’s the story behind the news?

Wicked tells the story of two unlikely friends, Elphababefore becoming the Wicked Witch of the Westand Glindathe future Good Witch of the Southwho become best friends, even with opposite personalities, different points of view and the fight for the love of the same man.

Two-time Oscar nominee for Harriet2019 feature film, Cynthia Erivo assumes the role of Elphaba in the adaptation, while the actress, singer and big fan of Wicked, Ariana Grandewas cast to live Glinda. In Brazil, actresses Myra Ruiz and Fabi Bangwho lived Elphaba and Glinda in the theater, respectively, will reprise their roles in the dubbed version of the new film.

The cast of Wicked still has Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Travel Companions), Bowen Yang (Megaromantic, Saturday Night Live) and Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere at Once), between others.
