Cruzeiro’s star player in the 2024 season, Matheus Pereira is a name mentioned before the call-ups to the Brazilian national team. In an interview with Itatiaia this Friday, the midfielder stressed that the focus right now is the celestial team.
“I don’t follow the news much. I try to spend as much time as possible with my wife, with the baby that will be born, with my family. But my team today is Cruzeiro. The only goal I have is to achieve our goals,” said the midfielder.
“Obviously if I get a call-up I will be very happy, satisfied. But I always try to focus on the club’s objectives, which is the most important thing, it depends on me. I don’t know what will happen in the future, my focus is basically only on Cruzeiro,” he added.
Matheus Pereira’s name was one of the first in the expanded list of Dorival Júnior. If a new call-up is needed in the Qualifiers, either due to injury or another nature of midfielders, the player could be called up for the first time to defend the Brazilian team.
