‘They didn’t know what to do with me’: Disappointed, will Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) return to Marvel?

When will we see Scarlet Witch on screen again? Not until a specific story, according to her translator, Elizabeth Olsen. The actor made no secret of his disappointment with the Doctor Strange sequel’s treatment of his character in a recent interview with FM104: “I think they didn’t know what to do.”

The American star, who has been playing Scarlet Witch since The Avengers 2 in 2015, is hinting at how her character was written in Sam Raimi’s 2022 film. Let us remind you that in the film the heroine becomes the antagonist and disappears under the prison of destruction in the last act.

However, the actor claims that he does not close the door to a possible return: “He’s a character I want to come back to when they find a good way to use him, and I was lucky enough to be that way when I started playing him..”

As soon as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released, Elizabeth Olsen expressed her surprise at the strange change in her character. When reading the script, the actress had not yet finished shooting WandaVision and did not understand how and why the heroine became the villain. “I asked myself, “God, how am I going to make sense of all this?“, he explained Diversity.

Since then, there’s been no news of the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, unless there’s a surprise return in the next Avengers installment titled Doomsday, in which Robert Downey Jr. will return… in the guise of Dr. Doom.

Avengers: Judgment Day hits theaters April 29, 2026.
