The duo are holed up in an Airbnb house soon to be rented by Dean, a documentary filmmaker who moved in after the end of his marriage. When he meets Marcel, a 2.5 cm mollusk, he decides to film his daily life and post his documentary on the Internet.
The film goes viral and Marcel becomes a favorite of Internet users. But Shell is not looking for fame, she just wants to return to her family.
More than a cheesy mockumentary, Marcel Shell (with his shoes) is a gem of stop-motion animation, a necessary dose of tenderness, a hauntingly intimate tale and a powerful adventure that touches the heart.
