A driver lost control during a parade at the Turin Motor Show, Italy, this Sunday (15), and ploughed into a crowd, leaving at least 12 injured.
The accident occurred when a rally car, a Lancia Delta, lost control and crashed into the crowd behind the barriers in Piazza San Carlo, near Via San Teresa, in the center of the Piedmont capital.
According to an official statement, 12 people were injured, five of whom were taken to hospital, while the others were treated on site by a medical team.
The Italian police are investigating the incident and have opened an investigation involving the driver of the vehicle and those responsible for organizing the event.
The city of Turin hosted the Motor Show again this year after five years. The exhibition takes place outdoors and takes the public on a journey through the history of the automotive industry, between the past represented by aesthetically more elegant cars and the future with its modern designs and more sustainable models.
With free admission, the event takes place in the streets and squares of the center of the Piedmontese city, which will take visitors from Piazza Carlo Felice to Piazza Castello and Piazzetta Reale.
