Uglya new Netflix series starring Joey King (The Kissing Booth) and Chase Stokes (Outer Banks), may not have won over critics, but it was a hit among subscribers to the streaming platform.

The production, which is based on the first book of the homonymous franchise by Scott Westerfeldcurrently only has a 19% approval rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoesbut it occupies the first place on the list of most-watched films on Netflix in Brazil. Check it out:

What is the story of Ugly?

Ugly takes place in a dystopian future where, at age 16, everyone must undergo plastic surgery to become Perfect. Tally Youngblood (Joey King) is one of the people most eager to go through the procedures and join society definitively.

However, when a friend of the girl shirks her obligation, Tally embarks on a journey to try to save her, which also leads her to discover that everything she believed in may not be such a beautiful dream.
