As for the matcha shop, We Candle uses this and other Japanese flavors in candles, sprays and aroma diffusers.
Upstairs at Matcha Minka, a shop in Liberdade that makes drinks and sweets with premium matcha, there are a few more tables. However, the left corner is all We Candle. There, artisanal candles, diffusers, home and body sprays are inspired by Asian flavors. So, in addition to having a matcha cone, the person can leave home with a kit that smells slightly of milk, reminiscent of the sweet treat.
Among the more than 20 fragrances, the highlights are the mochi candles (fortune cookie that has a sticky texture thanks to the rice), ichigo shortcake (strawberry and cream cake very popular on birthdays), yuzu (Japanese lemon), lychee, sakura blossom (cherry blossoms) and melon sweets. The 90-gram cans cost R$49, the glass jars cost R$89, the 190-gram refills cost R$47.90.
“When it comes to melon, you can taste Melona,” jokes Mariana A. Chen, who thinks of design and social media communication. “Everything is vegan, without animal testing. The candles are made with eco-wax, without paraffin or any harm to the environment. That’s why they all come with refills, reducing waste,” adds Fabiana Ikawa, partner of Mariana and also of Matcha Minka.
