After “The Tinder Scammer” premiered on Netflix, Simon Leviev reacted to the said documentary. This wasn’t the only production of its kind to gain notoriety among the streaming platform’s audience.
On July 6, 2022, “The girl in the photo,” a documentary about the mystery behind the death of a woman, was released. Here are six shocking revelations that this new Netflix content has revealed.
The Kidnapping of Suzanne Marie Sevakis
The Netflix documentary reveals that Frankin Delano Floyd kidnapped Suzanne Marie Sevakis when she was just 5 years old. Her mother, who had a relationship with Floyd, went to jail for using a bad check to buy diapers for her daughters.
After that, the man took the older girls to an orphanage and kidnapped Suzanne. He then pretended to be his father, to start a story full of abuse.
The various identity changes of Suzanne Sevakis and her kidnapper
She changed her name so she wouldn’t be recognized. Susan became Sharon Marshall. She grew up in an abusive environment until in 1989 she was forced to marry Floyd and changed her name again to Tonya Tadlock.
But she was not the only one who constantly changed her identity. Franklin Delano Floyd has had more than 5 different names over the years, including Clarence Hughes, Trenton Davis and Warren Marshall.
He did it to hide the crimes he committed, such as kidnapping and raping a girl when he was 19 or robbing a bank in 1963.
The abuse and prostitution suffered by ‘The girl in the photo’
Not only was Suzanne (aka Sharon or Tonya) kidnapped by her stepfather. After changing her name, Floyd forced her to work as a dancer and sex escort in a nightclub.
Karen Parsley, who met ‘Sharon’ at the nightclub when they were roommates, gave her testimony for the documentary. He confessed that many times he saw bruises on her body, but the young woman justified herself by saying that they were the result of slipping.
As if that wasn’t enough, Suzanne was also raped by her captor. This was revealed by Jenny’s friend from high school who claims that one day while she was with “Sharon” trying on underwear, the man came in and ordered Jenny to cover her eyes because he was going to sexually assault “Sharon”.
The real father of ‘Sharon’s’ son.
Years later “Sharon” became pregnant and gave birth to Michael, her son. Heather Lane, a former dancer at the club where they both worked, confessed that “Sharon” was a wonderful mother.
After “Sharon’s” death, custody of the little boy was given to a married couple. Floyd, who believed he was the boy’s father, filed for custody but was denied.
Then Floyd kidnapped little Michael from his school. Years later, during a contentious exchange, Franklin Floyd confessed to murdering the boy after abducting him.
The Death of “The Girl in the Photo”
‘Sharon’, just 20, had been shopping for her baby in April 1990 when he was found dead on the side of a road. She was covered in bruises and had bleeding on her brain. He was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive.
Police initially assumed she had run away, but she had blunt force trauma to the back of her head inconsistent with a car accident.
The circumstances of Suzanne’s death are still considered suspicious by the FBI, especially after Floyd revealed that he had murdered Michael and that Sharon/Tonya’s real name was actually Suzanne Sevakis.
