Claudia Raia on menopause: “doctors don’t always know how to deal with it”

In an interview with CARAS Magazine, Claudia Raia confesses that she has encountered difficulties in this period of her life. According to her, women are prepared for all stages of their reproductive life, except this one.

Claudia Raya57 years old, she opened her heart in an interview with CARAS Magazine about the difficulties she faced during menopause, a period that she defines as complicated and often misunderstood, even by medicine. The actress, mother of three children, including the little one Lucca 1 year, reported that recent experiences have led her to reflect deeply on this stage of women’s lives.

While attending a symposium on menopause and longevity in Portugal, Claudia discovered that many of the problems she was experiencing, such as alleged muscle pain, were actually related to menopause. “Women need a helping hand to discuss these issues”said the artist. In this sense, she adds that knowledge about menopause is still insufficient and that women need more support and information.

How did Claudia Raia deal with menopause?

Claudia revealed that the lack of adequate information about menopause has pushed her into a “hole.” According to her, women are prepared for all stages of their reproductive life, except menopause. This creates a gap in support and knowledge at one of the most critical times in women’s lives.

So, in the midst of preparations for the premiere of the comedy “Menopause”, Claudia comments on how women of this century differ from previous generations. “We are not used to seeing an old woman as a Jane Fonda. The new 50-year-old women are off the books. Doctors often don’t know how to deal with these changes,” Claudia observes.

Pregnancy Over 50… Is It Possible?

The actress emphasizes that menopause needs more visibility and discussion. She makes an interesting point: her pregnancy during menopause revealed the lack of clear medical protocols for situations like hers. When she asked if she would enter menopause again after the birth of her son, the answers were uncertain.

Finally, she believes that her case should serve as an example for women over 50 to remain active and fertile, contrary to what many people think. During her pregnancy, she noticed that even the doctors were surprised. “When I got pregnant they said to me: ‘Hey, but does he have sex?’. And the answer is: yes, great!”, the actress shared.

In short, the actress believes that there is a lack of studies on the female body: “It’s structural machismo. It’s as if the old woman has lost her usefulness. Everyone, including doctors, discouraged me from getting pregnant. I had an insemination treatment, but it didn’t happen and I got pregnant naturally, the treatment stimulated the hormones”explains.
