Paris Has Fallen on Canal+: Which famous actor should play the main role instead of Tewfik Jalab?

In May 2023, Deadline announced the filming of Paris Has Fallen, a new action series shot between Paris and London and produced by StudioCanal. Written by Howard Overman, the acclaimed creator of Misfits, and directed by Oded Raskin (False Flag), this fiction adaptation of Gerard Butler’s successful film saga was originally intended to be directed by Mathieu Kasowitz.

But this Monday, September 23 on Canal+, it is the actor Tewfik Jalabi that subscribers will be delighted to find in the role of Vincent, this special agent who will try everything to thwart the plans of the terrorist group.

Why did Mathieu Kasowitz leave the series?

The producer of Paris Has Fallen has never spoken about the reasons behind the departure of Mathieu Kasowitz from the series. At the time, our colleagues at Satellifacts explained that this casting change happened before the actor’s serious motorcycle accident in September 2023.

This is what can happen in our profession“, the series producer explained at the press conference. The latter also admitted that Vincent’s character did not change after this change.

We didn’t need to make any specific changes to the character. We are very glad to have Tevfik. He’s a very good actor and he’s really into the world he’s created. He is a great action comedian. This is what we focused on when recasting the role. But nothing important has changed between these two actors.

Adaptation of the famous movie saga

Paris Has Fallen is a TV series adaptation of the saga “The Fall” (French for “The Fall”), which follows the adventures of Mike Bunning, the bodyguard of the President of the United States, who never stops saving his country.

Antoine Fuqua’s The White House Has Fallen (2013), Babak Najaf’s London Has Fallen (2016) and Rick Roman Waugh’s The Fall of the President (2019) have grossed more than $522 million at the box office. A fourth installment, titled Night Has Fallen, was announced for 2020, but the project seems to have been shelved by the studios.

Catch the first two episodes of Paris Has Fallen this Monday, September 23 from 9.09pm on Canal+. Episodes will also be available on MyCANAL.
