Now yes, officially Ms. Marvel is the new superheroine of the Marvel universe. Kamala Khan gets her name and her costume in the last episode of the Disney + series, the end of a fascinating first season that augurs great plans for the character played by Iman Vellani in season 2 of ‘Ms Marvel’ . For now, we review everything that has happened and, also, the post-credits scene with a surprising cameo that will have left many fans wanting to know more.
One of the best series of 2022, ‘Ms. Marvel’ follows a teenage girl who dreams of being Captain Marvel and one day, thanks to a magical bracelet from her grandmother, she discovers that she can be a superhero just like her. With the charisma and adolescent joy of Spider-Man and the revolution of being Marvel’s first Muslim superhero, Kamala Khan explores her powers and her limits in this first season.. She falls in love with her, tests her friendships, builds bridges with her family, and learns a lot about herself. It is what makes it one of the best superhero series in history, but also in the series that has managed to make the Marvel formula its own and sign an impeccable origin story.
But let’s go to what we go, What happened at the end of the first season? And how does that post-credits scene connect to the movie ‘The Marvels’?

‘Ms. Marvel’: the season 1 ending explained
Following Kamala’s exciting family and historical journey in the last two episodes, in which we discover Aisha’s story and her relationship with the Underground in the context of the Partition between India and Pakistan, the series faced its sixth and final episode with two objectives: to establish the symbols of the superheroine (her costume, her name) and to subject her to her last litmus test. Back in New Jersey, Kamala’s family already knows her secret identity and supports her 100%, as long as she is careful and doesn’t go looking for trouble. In fact, it is her mother who gives her her suit, which she immediately puts on and it fits her like a glove.
Prepared, she goes out in search of Bruno and Kamran, who are being chased by the Damage Control Department. If we remember Kamran received the powers of the Noor from his mother after her sacrifice and asked Kamala’s best friend for help to control them, because it seems that they are consuming him from the inside.. However, they soon had to flee due to the pressure of their pursuers. Kamala finds them and together with Nakia and Kamala’s brother they transfer to the institute because they know that it will be empty on a Saturday. There she finds them Zoe, who is super grateful to Kamala for saving her in the first episode, and she joins the group to help distract Damage Control while Kamran escapes from her.
Despite his remarkable efforts to counter the agents, everything is shaken when Kamran learns that his mother has died and the pain causes his powers to become more dangerous, endangering the dozens of people (including the parents of Kamala) who have gathered outside the institute to offer their support. Kamala contains it, expanding his powers to limits that we had not seen until now, with the classic ‘Embiggen’ from the comics with which he manages to increase the size of his body. After several tense moments, she manages to convince Kamran that her mother chose him by sacrificing herself and helps him escape the scene to get out of the city.
When she is left alone on the scene, people from the community run towards her and surround her, protecting her from the Damage Control agents and allowing her to escape through the air thanks to her powers. A lovely gesture, although the power of these antagonists was already more than neutralized: Agent P. Cleary calls her subordinate and informs her that she has been suspended for disobeying her orders. And Kamran? As discussed below, He manages to flee and will reach Pakistan, where it seems that he will join the Red Daggers that we met in the fourth episode.
After this adventure, and after six episodes, it’s time to decide on a superhero name. And the moment comes in a beautiful conversation between Kamala and her father, who reveals that ‘kamal’ in the urdu language means ‘wonder’ (in English, ‘marvel’) and that is why they called her Kamala. She tells him that is why she has always been considered her ‘Miss Wonder’, or what is the same: Ms. Marvel.
A week later, we meet again with Kamala, who says goodbye to her friend Bruno, who is going to study on the other side of the country. But before she leaves us one of the great revelations of the end: Kamala Khan is a mutant. You read that right: mutants have already arrived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! As his scientist friend explains, something in his genes is not right, there is… a mutation. This is important because until recently the word ‘mutant’ was completely banned from the Marvelite Disney universe, but all that has changed with the acquisition of FOX.

Leaving Kamran with the Red Daggers in Pakistan, Bruno on his way to becoming (even more) a scientific genius, Nakia being the head of the mosque, and Kamala Khan with her name and suit ready to fight, the post-credits scene from season 1 of ‘Ms. Marvel’ leaves us a message for the future of the UCM.
We first see Kamala in her room, with her mother reminding her in the background that she has school homework to do as she lies exhausted on her bed. Suddenly, her bracelet starts to glow strangely and Kamala ends up being propelled into her closet, breaking the door. When she gets up, she is no longer Kamala. She had to pass: Brie Larson has made her cameo in ‘Ms. Marvel’ leaving us possibly the first breadcrumb to discover the plot of ‘The Marvels’, the sequel to ‘Captain Marvel’.
What does this all mean? As far as we can see, Kamala Khan and Carol Danvers have swapped their bodies. Captain Marvel is now seen in the teenager’s room, hallucinating with all the posters of her face that occupy the walls. “No, no, no,” she says simply, and that’s all we get from her. We don’t know where Kamala has ended up or how this exchange has come about, but we are sure that the movie ‘The Marvels’ will offer us more answers. Although we will have to wait a bit: it opens on July 28, 2023!
