It’s almost the end! Even fan love couldn’t save 9-1-1: Lone Star. The series, which was canceled before even airing Season 5, unfortunately failed to convince FOX to give it another chance.
The announcement wasn’t all that surprising, as the cast seemed to have little hope of a possible renewal. That’s also true of the series’ showrunner, who, thankfully, has laid the groundwork just in case, as he revealed in an interview with TVLine:
“There was a good chance it would have stopped”
“I knew it was going to be a real struggle to get more episodes beyond Season 5 and that there was a good chance it would stop after the episodes aired. Unfortunately, there were a lot of factors at stake and it wasn’t in the hands of the creative side.“
Knowing that the TV show would undoubtedly be canceled at the end of its 5th season, Rashad Raisan chose “don’t get caught” and create a strong story for each character.
At just twelve episodes, this final chapter should at least satisfy the believers from the first hour: We’ve given each of our characters the best possible conclusion, but we’ve also left the door open for stories that show there’s still a lot to explore in depth.
“I like working with these actors”
He concludes: “I love this show so much. I love working with this cast. I feel like we’ve barely gotten to know what they can do and what we can do on this show.”
Statements that endanger fans. But who knows? Maybe 9-1-1: Lone Star It will return to our screens one day. Luckily, season 5 just started in the US. It is enough to give us moments of joy for a few more weeks!
