The music video comes on the eve of the singer’s new world tour, which begins this Sunday
Billie Eilish released this Friday (9/27) the video for “Birds of a Feather”, a single from her latest album “Hit Me Hard and Soft”. In the video, the 22-year-old singer appears alone in an abandoned building, interacting with the invisible “ghost” of a loved one. Billie is seen being dragged from her chair and across the floor, smiling and singing lines such as “I’ll love you until the day I die.”
“Birds of a Feather” is the third video from the album “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” which hit platforms in May and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. It follows “Lunch” and “Chihiro,” and marks Eilish’s second partnership with director Aidan Zamiri, who also directed the “Guess” video for Charli XCX, in which Eilish made a cameo.
Paris-São Paulo connection
The clip arrives with the already famous song, having been sung by Billie at the closing of the Paris Olympic Games. The song topped Spotify in August 2024, accumulating more than 925 million plays, while its lyric video has surpassed 78 million plays on YouTube.
In an interview with the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Billie said the song was produced in the backseat of the car that was taking her to the Lollapalooza show in Sao Paulo. He showed a video of his brother adjusting the music on a laptop in the middle of the journey through Marginal Pinheiros. “Me and Finneas [seu irmão e parceiro de produção] we were on our way to Lollapalooza and decided to change the song right then and there. This is very common for us, we always work in random places”, commented the artist. The show at the festival broke all attendance records, with more than 100 thousand people present.
The premiere of the new video comes just days before the singer’s world tour. Shows begin this Sunday (9/29) in Quebec, Canada, then travel to the United States, Australia and Europe, with the tour finishing in July, in Dublin, Ireland. He will also return to “Saturday Night Live” in October, where he will be the musical attraction in an episode hosted by Michael Keaton.
