The creator of Ryujinx chose to take the emulator offline after allegedly being contacted by the creator of Mario
Just months after Yuzu’s demise, it seems the time has come to shut down another Switch emulator, with work on Ryujinx halted after its creator was reportedly contacted by Nintendo.
“Yesterday, [o criador do Ryujinx] gdkchan was contacted by Nintendo and offered a deal to stop work on the project, remove the organization and all related materials it controls”, we read in a message shared by one of his collaborators, entitled rip in peri peri, on Discord (via Reddit AND Kotaku). “While we await confirmation as to whether he will accept this deal, the organization has been removed, so I think it is safe to say what the outcome will be.”
The Ryujinx page is still active, but it is no longer possible to download the emulator. It allowed players to emulate Switch games on PC. The team responsible also worked on a port for mobile devices.
“Thank you to everyone who continued to plan, document or report issues for the project,” wrote rip in peri peri on Discord. “Thank you all for following us during development. I’ve been able to learn a lot of really cool things about the games I love, enjoy them with renewed qualities and in unique circumstances, and I’m sure you all have equally special experiences.”
Until the publication of this news, Nintendo had not yet officially commented on the end of Ryujinx.
