Why did you kill Glassman?

In an interview with our colleagues termDavid Shore and Liz Friedman, the two showrunners, vowed that Glassman’s death wasn’t really planned when they began writing Good Doctor Season 7.

True, I wouldn’t say that we always thought about it. But we made him very sick. Liz used this idea in season 7 brilliantly in my opinion, and it seemed like a good endingDavid Shore explained.

We wanted an ending that was hopeful, but we also didn’t want a perfect ending because that was the nature of the show to begin with. Things are not perfect, but they are promising. And I think it fits this thread very well“.

Liz Friedman also said she wanted to understand Glassman’s acceptance of death and Shawn’s grief. Unfortunately, time did not allow them to do so. However, the time jump allowed them to see Shawn’s evolution in the face of this situation.

It’s clear that Sean only has two episodes, if not less, to take this journey and begin the process of self-discovery.Freddie Highmore explained. “I think the fact that David and Liz decided that the final act would take place in the future was a great way to show that.
