Amazon is increasing the number of ads on Prime Video, as reported by Financial times. This expansion will begin early next year and there is no information yet whether the changes will reach streaming customers in Brazil immediately, although it is likely.
This change comes less than a year after the introduction of advertisements on the platform, a practice now common among major streaming services. This way, subscribers end up paying to see advertising, which is new in the industry.
However, it is not yet clear how many new advertisements will be included in episodes of series like “Reacher” and how they will be distributed, since much of the current content does not feature advertising.
Paid streaming ads: new trend
Kelly Day, vice president of Prime Video International, commented to the portal that the platform started with a reduced number of advertisements to prepare consumers for the change. He said this strategy had better-than-expected results, with no waves of cancellations after the advertising was introduced.
Additionally, Amazon is developing an interactive experience that will allow viewers to add items to their cart directly while watching videos, using remote controls and the app, in an interesting combination of features.
